Planning for your travels can be overwhelming and confusing. There are so many services and companies with similar offerings. How do you pick?! These are the brands and companies that I use and trust.
Accommodation
Airbnb
Often my go-to choice for accommodation. You get space, privacy and often access to a kitchen at a fraction of the price of a hotel room. If you’re new to Airbnb, get $36 off your first stay!)
Booking.com
I like using Booking.com due to the huge selection on the website. From hostels to hotels, everything seems to be listed here giving you a great overview of all your options across budgets.
Hotels.com
I like Hotels.com because of their rewards program. With 10 stays, you earn a free night. I do find their selection very focused on North America and Western Europe.
Airfare
Google Flights
When I need information, I always turn to the powers of Google so naturally, it would make sense to look to Google for my flights as well. I like how you’re able to see the full calendar view and look for the cheapest dates for you to fly. While you can’t book on the site, it will direct to the airline to make your purchase.
Momondo
Momondo is a flight search engine. I like Momondo as a search engine because it looks at a lot of smaller booking sites that other flight search engines don’t. I also enjoy the sleek interface.
Expedia
I use Expedia because of a credit card that I have which allows me to collect and redeem points faster. Their Expedia+ program allows you to collect points for future travel. They also offer great deals on vacation package.
Bonus: If you’re based in Canada, check out this family city-specific flight deals. There are pages all the major cities including Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal, as well as smaller locations like Winnipeg and Halifax. See if your city is available here.
If you’re in the US, sign up for Scott’s Cheap Flights and get notified whenever there is a flight deal. As a Canadian, I’ve been able to score some deals as well.
