Today we’re celebrating one year of #SundayTraveler. When we started this link up, I don’t think anyone of us imagined it to turn into the community that it is today. It’s been a real pleasure for me to regularly connect with bloggers from around the world and follow along on their adventures, learning more about them from week to week. To all of those who are stuck around since the beginning, thank you so much for your support and for continuing to link up each week.
To celebrate, we’ve each put together a collection of posts from the past year from the #SundayTraveler link up. Each host has picked their own theme. I’ve gone with the theme of food and travel because I’m happiest when I’m enjoying good food on an adventure.
Finding Budapest’s Sweet Side from Have Blog Will Travel – Long time readers of the blog will know that I’ve lived for awhile in Budapest. While I ate plenty of cake, I haven’t been to most of these bakeries. They look so tasty.
8 Costa Rican Dishes Besides Gallo Pinto You’ll Want to Try from Mytan Feet – I had the pleasure of meeting Samatha and Yeison earlier this year and boy have they convinced me to go visit. I definitely will be eating well.
Adventurous Eating – Kitfo from Cook Sip Go – Would you ever eat raw minced meat? Dave over at Cook Sip Go tried this delicacy found in Ethiopia.
Maple Syrup Festival from Justin Plus Lauren – When in Canada, you need to go to a maple syrup festival like this one. There’s nothing like enjoying maple syrup straight from the source!
The Sourtoe Cocktail, Dawson City from Ice Cream and Permafrost – Would you dare to do a shot with a human toe in your drink? I don’t think I could, but the braver than me Jess did it, but that wasn’t even the strangest thing that happened that day.
Penang Homecooking Class with Pearly Kee from Malaysian Meanders – I’ve always wanted to take a food cooking class and doing one in Southeast Asia would be awesome. This one looks like it would be fun.
How to Get Fat in Buenos Aires from Slightly Astray – I had such a hard time picking a post from Anna. She has so many great food posts, but this one had me drooling from start to finish. I can’t wait to go and eat all this!
Warm Milk in Europe from Basket Life Travel – When I was living in Europe, I was always mystified by the shelf stable milk and it grossed me out. Stacey had the same though and did a little digging. Read her piece on dirty eggs too.
Eat Like a Japanese: 11 Dishes You Must Try from Nerd Nomads – If I could only eat one type of food for the rest of my life, I would probably pick Japanese food? Why? All you need to do is flip through this great guide.
Favorite Food Souvenirs from The World Is A Book – Do you collect souvenirs from your travels? Mary shares some of her food souvenirs that she has taken home over the years. My favourite kind of souvenir!
Bizarre Foods from Around the World from A Southern Gypsy – What is the strangest food item you’ve eaten on your travels? Ashley has compiled a great list of odd things from around the world. Be sure to check out Part I too.
The Pescetarian’s Guide to the Best Dishes of Peru from Gallop Around the Globe – I don’t know too much about Peruvian food, but if I get to eat all this listed then I’ll be a happy camper. Love ceviche.
What’s your favourite food post from the last year of #SundayTraveler?

You are a person after my own heart. I am food-focused, too. I definitely remember reading about Jess’ Sourtoe Cocktail when she first published it and thought, “Nope, not for me!” I was pleasantly surprised to see you link to my Pearly Homecooking Class. It was indeed a fantastic experience.
Thanks Michele 🙂 You had a couple great posts for me to choose from. I wanted to include a cooking class so yours was the perfect choice. So yummy.
Happy one year anniversary! I am quite new to Sunday Traveller so I had not read most of these posts… I’ll have a look 🙂 Why is it that the bizarre foods attracts my attention…?
Happy new year too!
Thanks Laia! Happy new year to you too 🙂 Haha, bizarre foods are just so fascinating. As long as I don’t have to eat them…
Yay, happy one year of Sunday Traveler! Link-ups can create such a great community if they’re done right (which this one obviously is). Looking forward to participating in many more weeks 🙂
Thanks Cynthia and for participating! Here’s to another great year!
Yay!! Happy one year of SundayTraveler!! I’ve really enjoyed being a part of it, and it’s one of the best travel blogging communities out there!
You’ve picked out some really good food posts (and thanks SO much for the inclusion!). Gotta go through them and read the ones I missed. 😀
Thanks Anna! I’m happy to have discovered your blog. Love reading about all your adventures.
Congratulations and Happy One-Year to #SundayTraveler! I’ve really enjoyed being a part of this community, and have been introduced to some lovely bloggers out there!
I joined only a few months ago and missed quite a few of these posts, so thanks Adelina for the round-up.
Thanks Upasna! It’s a pleasure to have you with us 🙂
Happy one year anniversary – Love #SundayTraveler! 🙂
Thanks for joining up every week Lauren 🙂
Happy one year anniversary, Adelina! I like your food choices (except for the Sourtoe Cocktail which sounds way, way too daring for my taste!). Buenos Aires’s food exceeded my expectations too and as for the sweets in Budapest… I better not go back there, or I’ll loose my waste line again!
I don’t think I’ll be chasing that sourtoe cocktail anytime soon either. I definitely want to get to Bueonos Aires to eat though.
Thanks so much for the mention, Adelina! I will never forget Jess’ post, either – will certainly give that shot a try if I’m within a day’s drive. Congrats on the success of SundayTraveler and happy New Year!
Thanks Dave! Happy new year 🙂
